UK-based software provider and sports broadcaster, Satellite Information Services (SIS), will begin broadcasting Swedish thoroughbred horse racing in Ireland and the UK through a deal that they have signed with Swedish media rights holder, Svensk Galopp.
The deal will allow SIS to broadcast Swedish horse racing for the first time in Ireland and the UK in the three decades that the company has been operating. It will broadcast eleven races from the inaugural meeting at Bro Park on June 19, which include the Swedish 1,000 and 2,000 Guineas.
The comprehensive service will include English commentary on an overlay of Svensk Galopp’s live footage of the meeting. It will also offer a comprehensive betting service on the day of the meeting with fixed cards and complete race card coverage. This will be available in the display of the Racing Post betting shop.
“We’re excited to bring this prestigious fixture of Swedish thoroughbred racing to our customers for the first time and, having never covered any type of horse racing from Sweden, we’re looking forward to customer feedback on the coverage of the Bro Park meeting and the interest it generates,” announced head of horse racing content at SIS, Brent Dolan.
According to SIS, the deal will allow operators in Ireland and the UK who are SIS FACTS Service customers to have the ability to offer coverage of thoroughbred racing from six different countries including France, Germany, Latin America, South Africa, Sweden and the US, on 19 June.
Swedish thoroughbred racing has close to 80 fixtures per year, with midweek fixtures running from April to November and Sunday races throughout the year. There are a minimum of nine races for each fixture.
